Accident at Longstanton

An accident occurred on Wednesday morning, 16 September.  A van owned by HSS Hire crashed into a guided bus at the Longstanton road crossing. Witnesses report that the van jumped a red light, although no arrests seem to have been made. The bus was a single decker operating a city-bound "A" service.

Reports of the incident were provided by the BBC and the Cambridge News. Only the latter reports injuries.

  1. The Cambridge News report says: "Andy Campbell, managing director of Stagecoach East, said .......A minor diversion was put in place going through to the Longstanton park and ride which delayed people by a minute or two.........He added if that part of the busway was damaged, the same diversion would be in place while repairs were carried out."

Well, no sign of repairs being carried out, but this diversion was still in place this afternoon. The section of the eastbound track between the crossing and the Park & Ride site is closed of with barriers and "Road Closed" signs (at both ends!). The westbound track is operating normally.
