At a meeting of the Cambridge South Area Committee on 4 June, Councillor Katie Thornburrow proposed the erection of fencing along the stretch between Trumpington Park & Ride and Addenbrooke's Hospital to help keep cyclists and pedestrians separate from buses.
A brief report of the relevant part of that meeting has appeared in the Cambridge Independent.
UPDATE 0940 on 11 June: Less than an hour after I posted the above, the Cambridge News is reporting some sort of collision involving a pedestrian and a guided bus, close to Long Road. Inevitably the details are somewhat sketchy at this point.
The Cambridgeshire Guided Busway linking St Ives, Cambridge and Trumpington opened on 7 August 2011. This blog is now closed to new posts and comments. It was set up for people who travelled the busway, either as bus passengers, or users of the cycle/footpath such as pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders. The blog remains visible as a historic record. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the blog over the past decade.

The Luton=Dunstable busway has this where it runs beside Hatters Way in Luton. There is a footpath beside the road, and almost the entire length has a wooden fence separating that footpath from the guided busway. You can see it on Google maps & Streetview. Obviously seen as more important than a fence between the path and the road.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to hear about "congestion" on this part of the route. Wonder if someone could take a video and post here?
