Cambridgeshire County Council is planning to create a 'cut-through' for buses at Mitcham's Corner. This will speed up buses travelling from Victoria Avenue to Milton Road and Chesterton Road by 30 seconds, and will benefit Busway routes A and C. The cost of £97,000 is part of a £5.2 million Government-funded scheme to improve bus transport in Cambridge and is supported by the bus companies.

The Cambridgeshire Guided Busway linking St Ives, Cambridge and Trumpington opened on 7 August 2011. This blog is now closed to new posts and comments. It was set up for people who travelled the busway, either as bus passengers, or users of the cycle/footpath such as pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders. The blog remains visible as a historic record. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the blog over the past decade.
I think an additional stop at Mitchum's Corner or Dumbleton's Photography shop would be very useful. Currently there are no stops on the A and C lines all the way between Science Park and New Square. For the extra time it would imply, it would give a much better coverage of Cambridge town centre.
ReplyDeleteThe A doesn't stop between the Science Park and New Square. But the Whippet service C does. It has an advertised stop at Union Lane, but in practice their buses will call at any stop on the route. It's possible to use your Stagecoach day ticket or weekly ticket on any Stagecoach bus in Cambridge, so in theory, you could change onto a Citi service at the Science Park. But it would slow your journey down. Maybe you should try writing to Stagecoach to suggest they add an extra stop.
